Girlscout
This Girl Scout has had a smores stick shoved through her neck. Heather is wearing her old Girl Scout vest.
Housewife and the Milkman
Heather is dressed like a pregnant housewife. Jay is dressed as the milkman. They have both been shot multiple times.
Reading Rainbow
This was not executed to my satisfaction. I was attempting to be a reading rainbow. The shirt came from CafePress. It says, "Take a Look, It's in a Book". I have an headband with plastic rhinestones on it and with butterflies attached (Butterfly in the sky). The skirt is made with toile. The glasses came from the dollar store. The earrings are left overs from my childhood in the 80's.
Medusa
This was the very end of the night and I realized that I had not taken a picture. The hair took an hour to do and I don't remember how I attached the snakes.
Lucy and Charlie Brown Zombies
This is one of my favorites. As you can see Charlie Brown grew tired of having the football pulled away so he shoved it into Lucy's head. Lucy's zombie came back from the grave to strangle Charlie Brown with his kite.
Bjork
Kate dressed as Bjork in a swan dress. Toille, feathers and felt. You have to be crafty to pull this off.
Chronic-what-chles of Nania
This is my most expensive costume. The dress is a combination of two different patterns I covered the skirt in "old lady curtain" lace to make it look like ice. The wrap is a cut up faux fur jacket that I purchased at a yard sale for $5. The crown is made with half of a cross stitch hoop, Christmas icicles, a dremel, and some super glue.
Hall and Oates
Kate is dressed as Darryl Hall and Ashley is dress as John Oates. Cross dressing is always a great idea for an Halloween costume.
Gargoyle
David dressed as a Gargoyle sitting on the rocks of the Maymont nature center. This is an easy costume for anyone: gray clothing, gray facepaint, and cardboard cut in the shape of wings and painted gray. You can learn more about Maymont here: http://www.maymont.org
80's Rock Zombies
Kate and Brian dressed as 80's Rock Zombies. Pay close attention to the details. Those are lace gloves and jelly bracelets that Kate is wearing. The rhinestone denim Guns N'Roses jacket that Brian is wearing is something that he already had in his closet. He also wore spandex pants that he bought at an Halloween store. Always remember to look around the house first when putting together a costume. One of the best places to look is the thrift store. And never throw away those old costumes. You might be able to use them in another year.
Group Shot
This is a group shot of me (Dalek), Ashley (Bridezilla), Kate and Brian (80's Rock Zombies). I stole the Dalek costume idea from online. Just type in "Dalek costume" under Google images. The skirt is made with pleather. The rivets are styrofoam balls cut in half and then sprayed with bronze paint. I had brown boots instead of black because that is what I found for a good price. Ashley's present was last minute. We found the dress at a thrift store. Green facepaint came from the Halloween store. Kate already had toille for her to use as a veil This picture shows off Brian's pants.
Brett
This is Ashley dressed as Brett from Flight of the Conchords. The sweatshirt she is wearing has a picture of a fox on it. Jemaine is "did".
Air Hostess in the 60's
Let songs inspire you. This was inspired by Flight of the Concords -The most beautiful girl in the room. I am an Air Hostess in the 60's. Technically the uniform is from the 70's though. Woops. I also had a pillbox hat. The boots were ordered somewhere from the internet. They even had men's sizes! I bought a pattern for a retro dress and my mom sewed it for me. I did make the hat myself.
